Emilio Ceraudo (EC), Patricia Daniels (PD), David Harper (DaH) and Nick Martensz (NM) were absent with apologies.
Surgery Representatives: Fiona McGlashan (FM)
The minutes from the meeting of 25 June 2014 were approved and accepted.
The approved letter of thanks for the Health Awareness Event, written by DaH, would be included in the next Bar Hill News.
JP reported that Celia Lindsay from CATCH had now left the group and Martin Lewis would be taking her place. Any members of our group would be most welcome to attend their next meeting on 24 July and any future meetings. Details were available.
The public use defibrillator had been approved to be attached to the wall of the Parish Council office and would go up in August. Full instructions for its use in emergency would be written on it. CS asked about the position of this and was assured it had been checked and approved by the East Anglian Ambulance Service. A short discussion on how and who would use it, and maintenance cost, took place.
JD had decided not to write to the Bar Hill News as he had spoken to the editor himself.
GH asked if the minutes from the Health Awareness Event had been approved by speakers and FM assured him they had. They would now be published on the PPG website.FM said there was very little change to report this month. She asked if any members had been in the surgery to fill in the touch screen questionnaire. This is open to all patients of the surgery.
The Electronic Prescription Service should be up and running in November but this would be dependent on Tesco being ready to accept it.
Two questions had been put in the suggestion box at the village fête. One was to do with reminders of appointment by text etc. The second was waiting times for prescriptions. Both were discussed and felt already up to scratch; the surgery is already looking at MJog to improve reminders being sent for appointments.
AM arrived at the meeting at 6:44 pm.
LMS queried online booking for second appointments, this was discussed and explained.
AM asked about waiting times for appointments, quoting ten days from personal experience. A discussion followed and JD as chairman stopped this as personal factors were to be taken into consideration. It was felt this discussion was not in the interest of the members of the PPG.
It was felt that the stall at the village fête had been well received with many people attracted to having their blood pressure taken by surgery nurse Elizabeth Edunsin (EE). Many information leaflets had been handed out for PPG, Bar Hill Health Walks and others. Guessing the number of sweets in the jar to win the Scooby Doo cuddly toy had caused some fun and raised £14.70; the answer being 846 sweets in the jar and the nearest guess was 850. No decision could be made of what to do with the money, so it was agreed that JD would hold onto it for the time being. JD thanked everyone who helped on the day and sent his thanks to EE via FM.
AM mentioned that the public use defibrillator would be installed within the next two weeks.
AM took details of the CATCH meetings from JP.There being no other business, JD thanked everyone for attending and the meeting closed at 7:10 p.m.
The next meeting of the Executive Committee of the PPG will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, 27 August 2014, in the TNT Room at Bar Hill Church. Tea and coffee will be available before the meeting.
