Executive Committee Members: Patricia Daniels (PD), John Doland (JD), Doris Halls (DoH), David Harper (DaH), Joyce Jarvis (JJ), L.M. Stockman (LMS)
Graham Hardy (GH), Nick Martensz (NM), Josephine Powell (JP) and Chris Stannard (CS) were absent with apologies.
Surgery Representatives: Fiona McGlashan (FM)
The minutes from the meeting of 24 September 2014 were approved and accepted.
FM reported that there had been increasing interest in the Electronic Prescription Service and that the system would be in place by 17 November. LMS said that Tesco Pharmacy had EPS nomination forms already filled out for their repeat-prescription patients and if the patients wanted to use the EPS system, all they had to do was sign the form. EPS should be less expensive than the current paper system, with few opportunities for things to go wrong, like scripts going missing.
Over 500 patients who were invited to attend the influenza clinic on Saturday, 18 October, had their vaccinations. This represented about 50% of those who were eligible for the free NHS flu vaccination. It is expected that a number of those patients who are eligible but were unable to attend the Saturday clinic will be calling into the surgery to arrange their vaccination during normal surgery hours.
The Care Quality Commission will be back in Cambridgeshire during the first quarter of 2015. The surgery may be visited again despite undergoing an inspection a year ago.
The group was unsure about what the project actually was and that more information was required.
The surgery has not heard anything more about participating in this patient data sharing scheme. Opt-out forms are available at the surgery and online.
Action: LMS will make the link to the opt-out form more prominent at the web site.
JD announced that several committee members, including himself and the other honorary officers, would be resigning from the group at the end of the year. The resignations are for a variety of reasons, including time constraints, the feeling that the group lacks focus and that it is no longer accomplishing things. The current healthcare providers at Maple Surgery inherited the PPG from the previous providers and thus have not really put their stamp on the group. DaH pointed out that it was possible to dissolve the PPG via the constitutional process at the next meeting which is the AGM. LMS added that it would always be possible for a new PPG to be constituted in the new year according to the wishes and input of Malling Health. LMS added that the web site would remain online until October 2015 when the domain name registration expired, so that any new group would have the resources and the experiences of the first PPG to help them on their way.
There being no other business, JD thanked members for attending and the meeting closed at 7:00 p.m.
The 2014 Annual General Meeting meeting of the Executive Committee of the PPG will take place at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, 26 November 2014, in the TNT Room at Bar Hill Church. Refreshments will be available before the meeting.
