Joyce Jarvis joined the group.
The minutes from the meeting of 29 July 2011 were approved.
DH has contacted the Care Network representatives and they are eager to send someone to a future meeting to discuss the Community Car Scheme and other aspects of support.
Action: DH will contact representatives from the Care Network to invite them to speak at the October meeting.
Because of the failure to get an article/advertisement in the September edition of the Bar Hill News, there was considerable concern that attendance would be very low at the talk scheduled for 21 September 2011 on the topic of diabetes.
Action: It was unanimously agreed that the talk should be postponed to November to allow for proper publicity. CS will contact Diabetes UK to inform them of the change of plan and will also find out what dates are available for church hall hire in November. MM will contact THP. Existing posters will have to be taken down or altered to include the word 'Postponed' on them. LMS will update the web site immediately.
MM was concerned that patients might be tired of filling out surveys.
Action: Deferred to October.
Most of the evening was dedicated to discussing a first draft of the constitution of the group. MM said that the surgery should be responsible for costs such as photocopying and web site domain name registration (for which DH himself paid in the first year). MM expressed the group's thanks to LMS for preparing the first constitution discussion document.
Action: LMS will prepare a second draft based on the decisions made by the group and discussions will continue at the September meeting. DH will invoice the surgery for the upcoming domain name renewal.
There was no new business.
The meeting adjourned at 7:55 p.m.
The next meeting of the PPG will take place at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, 28 September 2011, in the Octagon. Tea and coffee will be served before the meeting, from 6:00 p.m.
